Paul Howalt and Von Glitschka are the proud authors of a new logo design book through Rockport Publishers. Inside you'll find work from my favorite designers: Felix Sockwell, Tim Frame, Gardner Design,  Ty Wilkins, Luke Bott, Chris Parks, Tracy Sabin, Joseph Blalock, Ty Mattson, Jon Flaming, Leighton Hubbell, Art Chantry, Invisible Creature, Randy Heil and of course, Paul and Von.  They were even so kind to include a few of my own marks. (:

Quad Fighter

I'm excited to show off some new packaging for a new client, QFO Labs.  They've created the Quad Fighter ™ that uses a revolutionary, single-handed controller (Mimix™)which makes flying this toy super intuitive, easy and precise.  In addition, this is the only flying toy you can have real dogfights with.

Talenti Ingredients

Having worked with Chad Hancock on some storyboards, he asked me to produce the ingredient illustrations for the new packaging he was designing for Talenti.  With help from Marty Harris, we've created 32 illustrations so far.

Not only is the gelato delicious, the packaging is too.

Logo Creed

I'm very honored to note that Bill Gardner from LogoLounge included me as one of his contributors to his latest book from Rockport Publishers. This is an amazing book that works great as a design curriculum. I don't know of another book that covers the history and process of logo design better.

They are finally on the shelves.  Here's the packaging for signature blends for InHarvest gourmet grains. I believe these are shots in Costco and Cost Plus stores.

Mountaineering Brand

Here's some logo ideas I rendered working with office mate, Jena Hanson.  The client went in a different direction, but I thought these were sweet.

Tattoo 2

I consider it a deep compliment when asked to design a tattoo.  I've only been asked twice and I take it very seriously since it is by far the most permanent work I do.  If you think about it, most design work either gets thrown away right away or, in the event of a logo, last only a decade or so before it's replaced.  Tattoos last a lifetime.

John Penzien of BI Worldwide gave me a rough sketch of the elements below and I added some embellishment. Interestingly enough, I spent as much time researching crests and coat of arms as I did rendering it.  I get lost in the detail of the art created hundreds of years ago by amazing designers.

Knowing John will carry this image with him for (hopefully) 40 or more years, I didn't want it to be trendy. So, I picked a style that has been around for several hundred years. (:

Brand Champ

I'm pleased to announce a new collaboration I'm participating in that we hope will be very successful and fun.  I'm working with 4 of the most-talented guys on the planet. Paul Howalt, Time Frame, Ty Wilkins and Von Glitschka and I are test driving Brand Champ: hire 5 amazing talents to brand your business either as a tag team or as a grudge match.  The work will be amazing (did I mention these guys are the best in the biz?) and the cost discount to you will be a great value.  Try us out and let the trash talk begin!

Tradeshow

A couple posts back, I showed you the packaging for a medical device client.  Here's how I extended the brand to trade show panels.

Energized Icons

I just noticed I haven't posted these icons... which are still some of my favorites.  I really enjoyed the energetic line quality.  Thanks goes to John Eastman when he worked at BI Worldwide for commissioning these.

Medical Packaging

At a glance through the last several posts, you might think all I do is draw cartoons. Not true.  Our office just received actual product of some medical device packaging.  These contraptions are components that propel a powder hemostat into a surgical operation... usually an endoscopic surgery. The product is actually amazing.

Variety

I while back I showed you the winning mark for a children's ministry logo.

But I also wanted to show the other marks presented.  Even though I like these marks, they didn't fit the environment of the space (think amusement park) like the above mark.

LogoLounge 8

Just received notice that 11 of my logos and icons will be published in the next Logo Lounge book.
